Course Description

Science communication is all about storytelling and podcasting is one of the best mediums for scientists to tell their stories. This workshop provides everything you need to get started making a podcast. We discuss storytelling and science communication in the context of podcasting, common styles and formats for podcasts and necessary techniques for crafting audio stories. We also cover what equipment is required and advise on options for every budget. Finally, students get hands on experience recording and editing a podcast using equipment provided by the instructor, smartphones, and free editing software. Students leave the course with a 5-to-10-minute audio piece and the skills and confidence to create their own shows and post them to streaming services like Apple, Spotify, and YouTube.

The seminar is offered as a 4, 8 or 16 hour online or in person course. The thematic focus will be agreed upon individually in each case.

This workshop is available in German as well as English. The number of participants is limited to 12.
