Trainer

Dr. Sascha Vogel

Sascha Vogel is a theoretical physicist by training. After a career in science (diploma in 2005, doctorate in 2009, postdoc abroad until 2011), he switched to science management in 2011.
Here he coordinated a Helmholtz Graduate School until 2016 and was responsible for the scientific program and the transferable skills courses. He quickly became a tutor and trainer himself, accompanying over 400 doctoral students on their path through the doctorate.

From 2016 to the end of 2019, he was Managing Director of the Frankfurt International Graduate School for Science, where he was also able to contribute his expertise in science management as well as in the area of training and coaching.
In the two roles mentioned above, he was responsible for organizing and hosting over 15 international conferences and almost 70 courses in the field of graduate education. He also held courses for other institutions.

Since his return to Germany, he has pursued science communication, initially as a hobby and later also professionally. As a successful science slammer (e.g. winner of the Hessen Slam, national winner of the ideenexpo science slam), he soon moved onto the bigger stages and inspired audiences with his show “Physics in Hollywood”. Here he also won the stage award "Herborner Schlumpeweck".

As a science ambassador for the state of Hesse, he designed the "Hands-on Science" exhibition, which is used in a wide variety of contexts. With appearances in the Bundesrat, at the book fair, in numerous schools and at many festivals, he and his team have inspired over a hundred thousand people for science over many years.

At the end of 2019, he founded science birds GmbH. Here he combines his passion for science, science communication and the training of young scientists.
